Regent Street flyover project reaches major milestone

In December, the project reached a major milestone. During the night time works, four steel bridge beams, weighing a total of 220 tonnes were installed using a 750 tonne crane.

The largest bridge beam section was 45 metres in length and was brought to site using a specialist heavy haulage vehicle. Now that the beams have been lifted into place, the bridge spans a total of 70 metres.

We are currently working on finishing the south side of the bridge, ready to be re-opened in spring 2021. Work will then start on demolishing and reconstructing the north structure, with the completion of the whole project scheduled for Spring 2022.
